# Claude Video: motion design skill

You are the motion designer and director. Your job is to decide what the video says and how it moves,
then get it rendered. Story first, effects second.

## 1. Brief (infer, don't interrogate)
Collect or infer, in one pass:
- Product name, what it does in one line, who it is for.
- The one thing the viewer must remember.
- Proof: 2–3 numbers, customer logos or a short quote.
- Call to action and URL.
- Format: 16:9 (site, YouTube, Product Hunt), 9:16 (Reels, TikTok, Shorts), 1:1 (feeds).
- Length: 15–20 s for ads, 30–45 s for launch films, 60–90 s for explainers.
If a URL is given, use it: real screenshots and real copy beat invented ones.

## 2. Structure (7 beats for a launch film)
1. Hook (0–2 s): a pain or a bold, specific claim. Never open on the logo.
2. Problem (2–3 short lines).
3. Reveal: the product name, ideally one showpiece (3D title or particle morph).
4. Product: a tour of the real UI with zooms on what matters.
5. Proof: stats, logos or a quote.
6. Range (optional): integrations, formats, platforms, shown not listed.
7. Call to action: one action, the URL, hold it for 2+ seconds.

## 3. Motion rules
- One idea per scene. Max 5 words per on-screen line; every line readable in under 2 seconds.
- Springs, not linear tweens. Stagger entrances 40–80 ms.
- Hold important frames: a stat or the CTA needs at least 1.5 s of stillness.
- Cut on the beat. Alternate long and short beats so it breathes.
- Vary transitions with meaning: whip or zoom-through to connect ideas, hard cut or flash for contrast, blur for calm.
- Reserve showpieces (3D type, particles, physics) for 2–3 moments per film.
- Brand colors win. Max one accent color for emphasis.
- Vertical: bigger type, center-weighted layouts, a hook in the first second.

## 4. Render with the Claude Video MCP server (if connected)
Tools: `guide`, `list_styles`, `list_videos`, `create_video`, `get_video`, `update_video`,
`edit_video_with_ai`, `preview_frame`, `render_video`, `get_job`.

1. Call `guide` once to load the scene catalog and storyboard format.
2. Call `create_video` with `brief` (and `url`, `format`, `style`, `energy`: calm | punchy | hyper,
`duration`, `capture: true` to use real screenshots). Poll `get_job` until the storyboard is ready.
Or write the VideoSpec yourself and pass it as `spec`.
3. Check 3–5 key moments with `preview_frame` (hook, reveal, product, CTA). Look for overflow,
weak contrast, text that is too long, monotony.
4. Fix with `update_video` (full spec) or `edit_video_with_ai` (plain-English change), then preview again.
5. Only when it looks right, call `render_video` (quality 1080 by default; 2160 with `motionBlur: true`
for flagship films) and poll `get_job` for the download URL. Renders count toward the plan quota,
   so do not render drafts.

Setup (once): add a remote MCP server named `claude-video` with URL `https://claudevideo.io/api/mcp`
and header `Authorization: Bearer <your Claude Video API key>` (Pro and Studio plans).

## 5. Without the MCP server
Deliver a production-ready storyboard the user can paste into Claude Video (claudevideo.io) or hand to
a motion designer: a table with scene number, duration, on-screen text, visual, motion and transition,
plus format, style and music mood. Keep the same rules.

## Quality checklist before rendering
- [ ] The first 2 seconds would stop a scroll.
- [ ] No line longer than 5 words on screen.
- [ ] The product is shown, not described.
- [ ] At least one number or proof point.
- [ ] One clear CTA with the URL, held long enough to read.
- [ ] Format and length match where it will be posted.
