How to make a SaaS launch video that converts (2026 guide)

A step-by-step framework for a 30–45 second SaaS launch film: hook, problem, product, proof and CTA, with scene-by-scene timing and examples.

A launch video has one job: make the right person feel “I need this” in under a minute. Beautiful motion helps, but structure does the heavy lifting. This guide gives you the structure we use for every launch film generated on Claude Video, and the reasons behind each beat.

The 7-beat launch film structure

  1. Hook (0–2s): a pain or a bold, specific claim. Never your logo.
  2. Tension (2–5s): three quick words or images that make the pain concrete.
  3. Reveal (5–9s): your name. This is where a showpiece (3D type, particles) earns its place.
  4. Product (9–25s): the product doing the job, with the camera guiding attention.
  5. Proof (25–32s): one number, one quote or recognizable logos.
  6. Range (optional): integrations, formats, platforms, shown, not listed.
  7. CTA (last 3–4s): one action, your URL, and an offer if you have one.

Write for the eye, not the ear

Most launch videos autoplay muted. Every idea must be readable in the time it is on screen. Our rule of thumb: nine words per text beat, seven words per title, and one idea per scene. If you need a comma, you probably need two scenes.

Specific beats generic

“Save time” disappears; “Get 9 hours back every week” sticks. Replace adjectives with numbers, and features with outcomes.

Show the product like a motion designer would

Raw screen recordings are the most common mistake. At thumbnail size nothing is readable, and the viewer has no idea where to look. Instead:

  • Zoom into the region that matters, with depth-of-field blur on the rest.
  • Use a cursor and click ripples to imply interaction.
  • Label each step with the benefit (“Spots churn risk”), not the feature name (“Analytics tab”).
  • Keep each step on screen for about 1.5–2 seconds.

Pacing and music

Cuts that land on the beat feel intentional; cuts that miss it feel amateur. Choose a tempo that matches your brand (around 120 BPM feels upbeat, 90–100 BPM feels premium and calm) and align scene changes to it. Claude Video composes an original track per video and snaps transitions to the beat grid automatically.

Make three cuts from one storyboard

Your launch will live in several places. Plan for them from day one:

  • 16:9, 30–45s: landing page, YouTube, Product Hunt gallery.
  • 9:16, 12–20s: X, LinkedIn, Reels, TikTok teaser.
  • 1:1, 15s: feed posts and paid social.

Checklist before you publish

  • Is the hook understandable without sound?
  • Is the product visible within the first 10 seconds?
  • Is every line readable on a phone?
  • Is there exactly one call to action?
  • Does the last frame work as a thumbnail?
