API documentation

The Claude Video REST API lets you create, edit and render motion-design videos from your own code, for example to ship a video with every release. API access is included in the Pro and Studio plans.

Authentication

Create a key in Dashboard → Settings → API keys, then send it as a bearer token:

Authorization: Bearer cv_live_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

POST /api/v1/videos

Create a video. The AI director writes the storyboard asynchronously.

GET /api/v1/videos

List your videos.

GET /api/v1/videos/:id

Get a video, its status and storyboard (VideoSpec JSON).

PUT /api/v1/videos/:id

Replace the storyboard. Validated before saving; errors are returned as a list.

POST /api/v1/videos/:id/render

Queue an MP4 export. Optional {"quality":"720|1080|2160","motionBlur":true}.

GET /api/v1/jobs/:id

Poll a job (generate or render): status, progress 0–1, result.url when done.

The VideoSpec storyboard

Every video is a JSON storyboard: brand, style, music and a list of scenes. Edit it in the dashboard, via the API, or let an AI agent edit it through the MCP server.

34 scene types are available, including showpieces like title-3d, particles, physics, ui-cloud, device-3d, globe and product-tour. Call GET /api/v1/catalog for the full, machine-readable catalog.

Rate limits

Exports count toward your monthly plan quota. The API allows 60 requests per minute per key. Renders are processed in a queue; Studio plans get priority.
