Make videos with Claude Code

Developers already ship with Claude Code. Add one MCP server and the same agent can ship the release video too: read the diff, write the storyboard, render the film and drop the link in your changelog.

Can Claude Code make videos?

Yes, with an MCP server. Claude Code cannot render video by itself, but once the Claude Video MCP server is added it can create a storyboard, preview frames, edit scenes and render an MP4, all from your terminal or a CI job.

How it works

Set up video in Claude Code in four steps.

  1. 01

    Get an API key

    Create a Claude Video account, then generate a key in Dashboard → Settings → API keys (Pro and Studio plans).

  2. 02

    Add the MCP server to Claude Code

    Point it at https://claudevideo.io/api/mcp with your key as a Bearer token. Claude discovers ten video tools automatically.

  3. 03

    Ask for a video

    Describe the film you want in plain English. Claude calls create_video, checks frames with preview_frame, edits the storyboard, then calls render_video.

  4. 04

    Download the MP4

    Claude returns the render link when the export finishes, in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, up to 4K depending on your plan.

How do I add Claude Video to Claude Code?

Add an HTTP MCP server named claude-video with the URL https://claudevideo.io/api/mcp and your API key as a Bearer token in the Authorization header. Claude Code then lists the video tools.

Can I run it in CI?

Yes. Run Claude Code headless in your pipeline, or call the REST API directly to create and render a video on every release.

Which plan do I need?

API and MCP access are included in the Pro and Studio plans.

Which Claude model should Claude Code use?

Any model with tool use works. Opus 5.5 is a strong default; Sonnet 5.5 is faster for frequent, simpler videos.

Is this an official Anthropic integration?

No. Claude Video is an independent product that works with Claude Code through the open Model Context Protocol.
