Claude and Remotion

Remotion made “video as React code” mainstream, and Claude is a strong React developer. Pairing them works. The question is whether you want to own the code, or just the video.

Can Claude write Remotion videos?

Yes. Claude writes Remotion components in React well, and you render them with Remotion on your machine. Claude Video uses the same idea (React rendered frame by frame, then encoded with FFmpeg) but adds an AI director, 34 ready scenes, music and hosted rendering, so you get a finished video without writing code.

    Claude writes a storyboard: scenes, copy, timing, easing, camera moves and transitions, as structured data you can edit.

    The engine animates

    Kinetik renders it frame by frame in React and headless Chrome: springs, motion blur, 3D, particles and physics, with music cut to the beat.

    Refine and export

    Change anything by hand or in plain English, then export an MP4 in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, up to 4K at 60 fps.

Is Claude Video built on Remotion?

No. Claude Video runs on Kinetik, its own engine that follows the same frame-by-frame React rendering model.

Should I use Claude with Remotion or Claude Video?

Choose Claude + Remotion if you want the video as code in your own repo and you are comfortable owning the pipeline. Choose Claude Video if you want finished videos fast, an editor for non-developers, and MCP or API automation.

Can Claude write custom scenes for Claude Video?

Yes. Custom React scenes are supported on Pro and Studio, and Claude writes them well; the engine checks them for determinism before rendering.

Do I need to know React?

Not for Claude Video. Only custom scenes involve code.

Is this affiliated with Remotion or Anthropic?
